November is National Adoption Awareness Month and in honor of this month I’ll be highlighting adoption resources, information and events that speak to the experiences of all members of the adoption constellation. For this first day, I wanted to draw your attention to the One Day Project, which is meant to celebrate waiting children who are leaving the fostercare system to be adopted into permanent homes and to remind us of the more than 100,000 children who are still waiting for loving families to adopt them. Approximately 1/3 of those children will age out of the system without ever being adopted.
You can check out the One Day Project web site to learn more about the events happening on November 17th, 2012 all around the country, see stories from participating families and even submit your own. You can also visit the Dave Thomas Foundation, whose mission is to find a home for every waiting child.
